Privacy Policy
Last updated October 9, 2026
This policy explains what personal data OmegleLife collects, why, how long we keep it and what you can do about it. You must be 18 or older to use OmegleLife.
Who is responsible for your data
[Company legal name], [Registered address], runs OmegleLife at https://omeglelife.com and is the controller of your personal data. Send privacy questions and requests to [email protected]. Our representative in the EU and the UK, where the law requires one, is [EU/UK representative name and address].
What we collect when you chat
Even if you never create an account, we process a few things about every visitor:
- IP address. Our servers see it with every request. We use it to work out your country, apply rate limits and bans, and protect the service.
- Country, which we derive from your IP address. We don't use GPS. We use the country for matching, country filters, prices and ads. The person you're matched with sees your country (for example, "Stranger is from Germany"), but never your city or exact location.
- Device hash. Your browser turns settings such as browser type, language, screen size and time zone into a one-way code. Together with your IP address, it lets us recognise a device for bans and abuse limits. We can't turn the code back into those settings.
- An anonymous session cookie with a random guest ID. It contains no name or email address.
- Your matching choices: the interests you add and the gender you choose to state, if any, which your browser sends to our matcher.
- Usage statistics: events such as "chat started" or "report filed", linked to your session ID, country, device type and language, so we can see how the service performs.
Chat messages and reports
We don't store your chat messages. They pass through our server on their way to the other person. While a chat is open, the server holds the last 50 messages in memory, for one hour at most, so that a report can include them. If nobody reports the chat, the server discards them.
When either person reports a chat, we save the last 50 messages and, for a video chat, one frame from the reporter's view of the other person's camera. We save both people's session ID, IP address, device hash, country, browser details and account ID (if any) with them. Only moderators can open this evidence, and our system logs every view. We keep it for 90 days and then delete it. We keep it longer only for a legal reason, for example after we've referred a case to the police or a child-protection organisation.
We delete photos and videos that Premium users send in chat from our servers after 24 hours.
Video calls and your IP address
Video uses WebRTC. Where the network allows, video and audio travel straight between your browser and the other person's (peer to peer). That keeps calls fast, but it also means the other person's device can see your IP address, which can reveal your rough location and internet provider.
When we turn on relay mode, calls go through our TURN relay server instead, and neither person sees the other's IP address. The relay passes the encrypted media along without recording it. To set up a call, your browser may also contact STUN servers, which a third party such as Google may run, and they see your IP address.
If you don't want strangers to see your IP address, use a VPN or text chat. In text chat, the other person can't see your IP address.
The face check
Before and during free video chats, your browser checks that a face is visible on camera. The check runs on your device, and we upload no image for it. Your browser only tells our server whether the check passed.
Premium accounts and payments
If you buy Premium, we create an account linked to your email address. We use the email for login codes, receipts and messages about your subscription, such as a failed renewal or a crypto pass about to expire. We don't send marketing emails.
Depending on your country, you pay through PayPal, NOWPayments (crypto) or Stripe (card). These companies handle your card, PayPal or wallet details under their own privacy policies, and we never receive your full card number. We keep a record of each payment: amount, currency, date, plan, country and the provider's reference. We also store your Premium preferences, such as country filters and auto-message text, and the sessions you're signed in on, with their IP address and browser details.
Cookies and local storage
We set these cookies:
- a consent cookie that remembers you confirmed you're 18+ and accepted the terms (30 days);
- session cookies for your anonymous guest ID (1 year) and, with Premium, your login (30 days, extended while you use the site);
- a cookie that remembers your cookie banner choice (180 days).
Your browser also keeps preferences such as interests, stated gender, theme and sounds in local storage on your device.
Free users see ads. In the EU and the UK, ad and analytics scripts load only after you accept them in the cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" in the footer. Elsewhere, these scripts may load without a banner. Ad and analytics providers may set their own cookies under their own policies.
Why we use your data
Where the GDPR or a similar law applies, our legal bases are:
- contract, to run chats and provide the Premium you paid for;
- legitimate interests, to keep users safe, handle reports, enforce bans, prevent fraud, secure the service and measure usage;
- consent, for ad and analytics cookies in the EU and the UK, which you can withdraw at any time;
- legal obligation, to keep accounting records and to report child sexual abuse material and other crimes where the law requires.
Who we share data with
We share personal data only with:
- the person you chat with, who sees your messages and video and, in peer-to-peer video, your IP address;
- service providers that run the site for us, such as hosting, network and security, email delivery and error monitoring;
- PayPal, NOWPayments or Stripe, when you buy Premium;
- ad and analytics providers, under the consent rules above;
- police, courts, regulators or child-protection organisations such as NCMEC, when the law requires it or to protect someone from serious harm.
Some providers are outside your country, including outside the EU and the UK. Where the law requires it, we use safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. Ask us and we'll tell you which providers we currently use.
How long we keep data
| Data | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Chat messages with no report | Not stored. Held in memory during the chat, 1 hour at most |
| Report evidence (messages, frame, identifiers) | 90 days, longer only for a legal case |
| Report records (reason, date, outcome) | While we need them to spot repeat abuse |
| Photos and videos sent in chat | 24 hours |
| Bans | For the length of the ban, plus a record afterwards |
| Usage events | 90 days; totals without IDs are kept longer |
| Login codes | Deleted within a day of use or expiry |
| Login sessions | Until you log out, or 30 days without use |
| Guest cookie | 1 year |
| Account and preferences | Until you delete your account |
| Payment records | As long as tax and accounting law requires |
| Backups | Deleted data can remain in backups for up to 14 days |
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us for a copy of your data (including in a portable format), and ask us to correct it, delete it, or restrict or stop how we use it. You can also withdraw consent you've given.
Premium users can delete their account from the account page. That stops any renewal, ends Premium at once and removes your email address and preferences. We keep payment records, linked to the anonymised account, because accounting law requires them.
For other requests, email [email protected]. We may ask you to confirm who you are, and we'll reply within one month. If you've never bought Premium, we hold little that we can link to you, and an IP address alone is rarely enough to confirm that a request comes from you. We may keep data needed to enforce an active ban or meet a legal obligation. You can also complain to the data protection authority in your country.
Age limit
We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor has used the site, we ban them and delete their data, except what we must keep to report a crime.
Security and changes
We use HTTPS, encrypt the secrets we store and limit who can reach personal data. No system is immune to breaches. If one affects you, we'll tell you as the law requires.
When we change this policy, we update the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll post a notice on the site and email Premium users. See also our Terms of Service and Safety Center.
